ENGINE OIL - explained

ENGINE OIL:

Engine oil divided into three major categories

  • Mineral oil /Organic oil
  • Semi-synthetic oil
  • Fully Synthetic oil
Mineral oil/Organic oil:

Mineral oils are basically natural oils which we will get while processing Crude oil in refineries.
These engine oils will be used in low performance/commuter class bikes/smaller capacity bikes
Mineral oils are cheaper compared to synthetic/semi-synthetic. The cycle between the oil change /oil change frequency was more to mineral oils because of its low resistance to high heat
Mineral oils makes the engine to run smoother ,clutch action will be free, Viscosity of oil will be good, better wear protection etc,

Recommended bikes : Below 100cc

Semi-Synthetic oil:

Semi-synthetic is the mixture of organic oil with the chemicals created in labs to make some changes in characteristics. It will have high heat resistance compared to mineral oil & because of the that performance is high in semi synthetic oil.The frequency of the oil change is doubled. Since the performance of the oil is high the cost of the oil is also high

Recommended Bikes :Below 250cc crusers and commuter ,upto 200 cc sports class sports inspired bikes. Can be used in all bikes but expensive.

Fully Synthetic oil:

Fully synthetic oil is nothing but the oil completely created in Labs with the help of chemicals.(Technically its artificial oil not taken from crude oil).Fully Synthetic new formulation provide improved wear, sludge deposits and oxidation control to optimize engine performance ,Optimum viscosity with reduced evaporation rate, provide efficient usage
Longer engine life

Things recommended to check when changing engine oil :

FUEL FILTER HAS TO BE CHANGED WHENEVER YOU CHANGE ENGINE OIL.
